What actually happens in a first session

The most common reason people delay booking is not cost or time. It is not knowing what they are walking into.
So here is the actual shape of it.
The first ten minutes
We deal with the boring, important things: confidentiality and its limits, how cancellations work, how to reach me between sessions. You can ask anything here. Most people ask how long this will take, and I will give you an honest answer rather than a comfortable one.
The middle
I will ask what brought you now — not what brought you generally, but why this week rather than six months ago. That question usually does more work than any other.
Then we map the week. What happens, when, and what it costs you. I take notes. You will probably say something you did not plan to say, and that is usually the useful part.
The last ten minutes
We agree what we are working on and how we will know it is changing. You leave with one thing to try, not twelve.
That is it. No couch. No silent staring. You are allowed to change your mind afterwards.
